Responsible Play
cardhouse should be an enjoyable way to build a collection. This page is about keeping it that way. It contains the parts we would rather you heard from us than worked out for yourself later — including the number most of this industry does not print.
1. The honest part
Every outcome in a pack is published with its probability, before you buy. That is the whole distribution: what is in the pool, and how likely each thing is. Nothing about what a pack can do is withheld from you.
Read plainly: over a long enough run, most collectors will hold cards worth less than they spent. The same is true of sealed product bought from a hobby shop, and it is the ordinary economics of opening packs anywhere. We say it out loud because a customer should not have to reconstruct it from the odds table.
A pack pays out whatever the five cards in it happen to be worth — sometimes far more than you paid, sometimes less. The odds on the pack page are the same odds for every customer, regardless of tier, level, season or spend, and they are verified automatically against the live pools before release. They describe a population of openings and tell you nothing whatever about what your next pack will contain.
Your own figure is in your account settings: total spent on openings, beside the current estimated Value of what you hold. It is there so you can see your position without doing arithmetic, and it is not hidden behind a menu.
2. What cardhouse is not
There are no cash prizes. Tokens cannot be withdrawn, transferred or converted to money, and no quantity of pack opening produces cash. Selling a card back pays tokens.
There is no credit, no lending, no instalment facility, and no mechanism to spend money you have not already paid us.
Every pack delivers real cards. There is no losing outcome, no jackpot, no progressive prize, no "near-miss" presentation, and no mechanic designed to make a low-value result feel like a narrowly avoided high-value one.
We do not use countdown timers, invented scarcity, fabricated activity feeds, or messaging that treats a period of not buying as something to be corrected.
3. Design commitments
We commit to the following, and consider a breach of any of them a defect:
Odds are published for every pack, before purchase, to signed-out visitors as well as customers. Value figures carry the date of the data they are drawn from. No purchase is ever a single unconfirmed click. We do not send marketing that is triggered by a customer's losses or by a period of inactivity. We do not offer bonuses conditioned on continued spending after a loss. No paid tier, level or achievement alters the contents or probabilities of any pack.
4. Signs worth taking seriously
Spending more than you planned, or more than you can comfortably afford to lose. Opening packs in order to change how you feel rather than because you want the cards. Concealing what you spend from people close to you. Attempting to "win back" what a run of openings cost. Borrowing to fund purchases. Finding that it occupies your attention when you are meant to be doing something else. Feeling irritable or restless when you cannot open anything.
If several of those are familiar, it is worth speaking to someone. It does not need to have become a crisis to be worth addressing, and the services below are free.
5. Getting help
National Problem Gambling Helpline — call or text 1-800-MY-RESET (1-800-697-3738). The previous number, 1-800-522-4700, continues to work. Chat at 1800myreset.org. Free, confidential, available 24 hours a day.
California — the California Problem Gambling Helpline is 1-800-GAMBLER (1-800-426-2537), operated with the California Department of Public Health's Office of Problem Gambling, which also provides free treatment through CalGETS.
Gamblers Anonymous — gamblersanonymous.org. Gam-Anon, for family members, is at gam-anon.org.
If you are in immediate distress, contact 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or your local emergency number.
These organisations are independent of Cardhouse Ventures LLC. We do not receive any information about who contacts them, and contacting them has no effect on your account.
6. Tools we have, and tools we do not yet
Available today: a hard 18+ requirement; no cash-out and no credit of any kind; odds published for every pack; the spend-against-Value figure in your account; a full, permanent history of every opening and every token movement; and account closure on request.
Not yet built: deposit limits you set for yourself, cooling-off periods, session reminders, and self-exclusion. These are the next items scheduled for this area of the Service. They are listed here as missing because the alternative is a page whose confident tone implies protections that do not exist.
To close or pause your account today, write to support@cardhouse.live and we will do it. Closure stops all spending. It does not take your cards: anything you own can be shipped to you or sold back before the account closes.
If you ask us to close your account for reasons of control over spending, we will not send you marketing afterwards, and we will not treat a later request to reopen as routine.
7. Family and household
If you believe someone in your household is using the Service in a way that is harming them — or is under 18 — write to support@cardhouse.live. We will investigate, and where an account belongs to a minor we will close it and refund the deposits made on it, as set out in the Terms.
